Ten of Swords

Ten of Swords

Swords

Essence

I am the figure with ten swords in the back. In my image, a body lies face-down on the ground, ten swords piercing the back. The sky is black - but look at the horizon. A band of gold appears. Dawn comes. This is the worst it gets. This is the bottom. But the golden sky whispers: it's over, and what's over can give way to what's new.

Upright

Themes: Rock bottom, painful ending, defeat, betrayal, backstabbing, collapse, but also: dawn, completion, nowhere to go but up.

I speak with the voice of rock bottom. I am about total defeat, painful endings, the collapse that can't be argued with. When I appear, I do not minimize: yes, this is bad. Yes, you are down. But see the horizon? The darkest hour is just before dawn. When you cannot fall further, you can only rise. This ending clears the ground for beginning. **Themes:** Rock bottom, painful ending, defeat, betrayal, backstabbing, collapse, but also: dawn, completion, nowhere to go but up.

Reversed

Themes: Resisting inevitable ending, prolonged suffering, or: recovery beginning, worst is over, starting to rise.

I speak of refusing to accept the ending or beginning to rise. Either you're not done falling, resisting the inevitable conclusion, or you've started the slow process of getting up. My reversed message asks: have you accepted that this is over? Can you see the dawn yet? **Themes:** Resisting inevitable ending, prolonged suffering, or: recovery beginning, worst is over, starting to rise.
