Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Swords

Essence

I am the knight at rest in the chapel. In my image, a figure lies in repose on a tomb, hands pressed together in prayer. One sword lies beneath them; three hang on the wall above. Stained glass shows a scene of blessing. This is not death but deliberate stillness - the warrior who has temporarily laid down arms to recover, to pray, to heal before the next battle.

Upright

Themes: Rest, recovery, contemplation, retreat, meditation, healing, sanctuary, peace, restoration.

I speak with the voice of healing stillness. I am about rest, recovery, contemplation - the necessary pause that restores. When I appear, I announce that now is not the time for action. The swords are hung. The battle waits. Rest is not weakness but wisdom. Recover your strength. The world will still need you tomorrow. **Themes:** Rest, recovery, contemplation, retreat, meditation, healing, sanctuary, peace, restoration.

Reversed

Themes: Restlessness, burnout, forced return, or: excessive isolation, using rest as escape, stagnation.

I speak of rest interrupted or rest that has become avoidance. Either you're being forced back into action before you're ready, or you've used retreat as permanent escape. My reversed message asks: is it truly time to rise? Or are you hiding from life in the chapel? **Themes:** Restlessness, burnout, forced return, or: excessive isolation, using rest as escape, stagnation.
